Patient Interview: Emily - 6-weeks Post Operation

We caught up with Rhinoplasty patient, Emily, 6 weeks after her operation. Read the interview below, and watch the video at the bottom of this article.

YOU'RE 6 WEEKS POST-RHINOPLASTY, HOW DO YOU FEEL?

It's honestly changed so much since getting it done. I went out for a meal with friends, and just to be able to sit there and not worry about people looking at me from the side. I think the main difference is that I don't think about it anymore. When I didn't like my nose, it was a constant, "oh my god, people, looking people are thinking this", but since getting it done, it's just taken that weight off my shoulders and I'm actually able to enjoy my social interactions a bit more, and work, and… Yeah, it's amazing.

WAS THERE ANYTHING SPECIFICALLY YOU WANTED ADDRESSING IN YOUR OPERATION?

"With my old nose, I think my main concern was that I had a hump, the bump, just there [Emily points to the bridge of her nose]. So, my main thing was just to get rid of that. And also, when I used to smile, the tip of my nose used to droop down a little bit, which I hated.

So obviously the tip has been brought up and refined, because it was quite "bulbous" they call it.

So he's definitely refined the tip for me and then got rid of the bump, and I think just made it in general a bit smaller. It suits my face a bit more!

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU'D LIKE TO SAY TO DR. GILLEARD?

It's given me just so much more confidence and really improved my self-esteem. It's not something that I worry about anymore. It's improved my social life because I don't really say no to things that would have made me a bit uncomfortable before, and I like being in pictures.

I’ve got a wedding coming up and now I don't have to worry about my nose being big in pictures, which is not something that you want to worry about. I'd just like to say massive thank you for the confidence it's given me.
